NASHVILLE, TN – Gray skies and morning showers could leave roads wet across Nashville on Sunday, Oct. 11, before sunshine returns and temperatures climb sharply.
Residents traveling through Davidson County should prepare for potentially slippery pavement during the early morning, particularly along Interstate 40, Interstate 65 and Interstate 24.
According to the National Weather Service, Nashville faces a 60% chance of precipitation Sunday, with showers most likely before 8 a.m.
Rainfall amounts should remain below one tenth of an inch, limiting the potential for significant accumulation. However, even light rainfall can reduce traction and visibility during morning travel.
Clouds should gradually break through the morning, allowing temperatures to reach approximately 74 degrees by afternoon.
West northwest winds will reach 5 to 10 mph, with occasional gusts approaching 20 mph.
Sunday night brings mostly clear skies and a low near 57 degrees.
Another travel concern develops early Monday, Oct. 12, when patchy fog could reduce visibility before 8 a.m.
Otherwise, Columbus Day brings increasingly sunny skies and much warmer temperatures, with afternoon highs reaching 88 degrees.
Tuesday, Oct. 13, continues the warming trend. Sunshine dominates, and temperatures climb to approximately 90 degrees.
Wednesday, Oct. 14, becomes the warmest day of the forecast period, with sunny skies and a high near 91 degrees.
A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms develops after midnight Wednesday night, although precipitation chances remain at 20%.
Five Day Outlook: Thursday, Oct. 15, brings mostly sunny skies, a high near 88 degrees and a 20% chance of early thunderstorms.
Friday remains mostly sunny, with temperatures near 80 degrees.
Saturday, Oct. 17, turns cooler, with sunshine and a high near 70 degrees.
Drivers should monitor Sunday morning rainfall and Monday fog before warmer, drier conditions settle across Nashville.
