Nashville, TN – A 19 year old man was killed and two other people were wounded during an exchange of gunfire Saturday evening in a Jefferson Street parking lot, according to Nashville police.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department , the shooting happened around 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, in the parking lot of King's Vape on Jefferson Street. Police identified the man who died as Donald King Jr., 19 .
Investigators said King was one of three people inside a Mitsubishi SUV that backed into a parking space next to a Toyota Camry. During an interaction between the Mitsubishi occupants and the Camry's lone driver, gunfire was exchanged between the two sides, police said.
King was critically wounded and found by responding officers. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where police said he died shortly after arriving.
Authorities said King's two friends, ages 16 and 20, left the scene in the Mitsubishi. The 20 year old Camry driver also left in his vehicle.
The two Mitsubishi occupants later went to St. Thomas Midtown Hospital, where the 20 year old was treated for a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Police said the Camry driver went to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and was treated for a non life threatening gunshot wound.
All three surviving people involved were later taken to Metropolitan Nashville Police Department headquarters and interviewed by Homicide Unit detectives.
Police said no charges had been filed as of Sunday. Detectives are continuing to investigate who allegedly began shooting and what led to the gunfire.
The investigation remains ongoing.
