Nashville, TN – A routine traffic stop over loud car music led Nashville police to arrest a second suspect in a deadly nightclub shooting that occurred more than two years ago, bringing a significant development in a long running homicide investigation.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department , Kevin Garcia Soto, 20, was arrested Wednesday evening, October 28, after a South Precinct officer stopped him for allegedly playing music too loudly from his vehicle.
During the stop, the officer discovered Garcia Soto had outstanding homicide and attempted homicide warrants connected to a September 8, 2024, shooting outside Bucanas Nightclub at 3810 Nolensville Pike in Nashville's Davidson County.
Deadly Shooting Outside Nashville Nightclub
Investigators said 18 year old Yasser Paz and 20 year old Kyaw Naing were leaving the nightclub when another vehicle pulled alongside theirs in the parking lot.
People allegedly exited the approaching vehicle and opened fire, killing Paz and critically wounding Naing.
Police said the investigation, led by Detective Cooper Gauldin, developed information indicating the shooting stemmed from an earlier conflict involving Paz and Edgar Garcia Soto.
Second Brother Arrested in Homicide Investigation
Kevin Garcia Soto's younger brother, Edgar Garcia Soto, 19, was arrested in May 2026 and charged with homicide and attempted homicide.
Authorities said Edgar's case was filed in Juvenile Court because he was 17 when the shooting occurred.
Kevin's arrest marks the second suspect taken into custody in connection with the deadly gunfire.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department announced the latest arrest Thursday, October 29, following the Wednesday evening traffic stop.
Police have not detailed additional evidence linking Kevin Garcia Soto to the shooting in the release.
The allegations remain subject to court proceedings, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
