Nashville, TN – A 25 year old motorcyclist has died after colliding with an SUV Saturday evening at the intersection of Gallatin Pike South and Walton Lane in Nashville, police said.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department , the crash happened at approximately 7:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26. Police identified the motorcyclist as Juan Resendiz, 25, of Mt. Juliet .
The department's preliminary investigation indicates Resendiz was riding a 2024 Suzuki GSX southbound on Gallatin Pike when the driver of a northbound 2025 Buick Envista attempted to turn westbound onto Walton Lane.
Police said Resendiz's motorcycle collided with the front of the SUV, throwing him from the motorcycle.
Resendiz was transported to Skyline Medical Center following the crash. Authorities said he later died from his injuries.
Investigators are continuing to review the circumstances that led to the collision. According to police, a witness reported that Resendiz appeared to be traveling above the posted speed limit while approaching the intersection as the traffic signal turned yellow.
That account is part of the preliminary investigation, and police said the case remains under investigation.
The department's Sunday release did not identify the SUV driver or announce any charges related to the collision.
The fatal crash occurred along Gallatin Pike, a major north south roadway through the Nashville area. Drivers traveling near Walton Lane may continue to see investigative activity related to the case as police work to determine the complete sequence of events.
