Nashville, TN – A man was killed early Sunday morning after his Volkswagen sedan left the roadway, struck a street sign and crashed into a retaining wall along Antioch Pike in Davidson County. Police are continuing efforts to identify the driver.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department , the fatal single vehicle crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, on Antioch Pike near McCall Street in southeastern Nashville.
Traffic Division investigators said the Volkswagen was traveling westbound when the driver apparently failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and lost control.
Vehicle Struck Multiple Objects Before Fatal Impact The preliminary investigation indicates the sedan left the right shoulder of Antioch Pike and struck a street sign.
The vehicle then entered a ditch before colliding with a retaining wall.
The driver, described by police as a Hispanic man, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released the man's name or age.
The Medical Examiner's Office will assist investigators in determining his identity.
Police Report No Signs of Impairment Investigators said there were no indications of impairment at the crash scene.
Police have not identified any additional contributing factors or announced whether excessive speed played a role.
The crash remains under investigation by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department's Traffic Division.

The deadly collision marks another serious traffic incident in the Nashville area over the weekend, following a separate Saturday morning crash on Blue Hole Road that killed two people.
