Nashville, TN – Four teenagers have been arrested in connection with the August shooting death of a 16 year old near a Nashville high school football game, according to information released Friday by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department .
According to MNPD’s Oct. 2 media release, homicide detectives spent approximately six weeks investigating the Aug. 21 killing of Cameron Frierson, 16. Police said the shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. near Herman Street and 25th Avenue North after a nearby high school football game.
Police allege the four teens were inside a vehicle when multiple shots were fired. Responding officers found Frierson on the ground after he had been struck by gunfire. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where police said he died shortly after arriving.
MNPD identified those charged in Juvenile Court with criminal homicide and engaging in a criminal conspiracy as Jon’quavous Johns Collins, 18, who police said was 17 at the time of the shooting; Marcelle Stem Jr., 17; Lil Tay Webster, 17; and Zachkeieus Brown, 16.
The charges are allegations, and the defendants have not been convicted in connection with the case.
Police said Detective Holly Davis led the homicide investigation with assistance from other Homicide Unit detectives, the Specialized Investigations Division and the Youth Services Division.
Investigators have not announced what they believe led to the gunfire. MNPD said detectives continue to investigate the motive.
