Memphis, TN – An unusually warm stretch of October weather is heading toward western Tennessee, northern Mississippi and eastern Arkansas, with temperatures expected to climb into the 90s beginning Monday, October 12, and remain elevated through much of next week.
According to the National Weather Service NWS in Memphis, lingering showers associated with Post Tropical Cyclone Isaias are expected to move out Saturday evening, leaving behind a predominantly warm and dry weather pattern through at least the middle of next week.
Temperatures Could Reach 95 Degrees The warming trend begins Sunday, with Memphis expected to reach 86 degrees before climbing to 91 degrees Monday and Tuesday.
By Wednesday, October 14, Memphis could reach 92 degrees , while nearby Covington is forecast to hit 93 degrees.
Northern Mississippi could experience even hotter conditions.
Clarksdale is forecast to reach 94 degrees Monday and Tuesday before climbing to 95 degrees Wednesday , among the highest temperatures shown in the regional forecast.
Tunica could reach 94 degrees Wednesday, while Tupelo is expected to climb to 92 degrees.
Across eastern Arkansas, Jonesboro could reach 94 degrees Monday, while Forrest City is forecast to reach 93 degrees during the early part of the week.
Rain Chances Remain Limited Despite the unusual warmth, widespread rainfall appears unlikely through Tuesday.
The NWS forecasts a 0% precipitation probability Monday and Tuesday across the listed Mid South communities.
Rain chances begin increasing Wednesday, particularly across northeastern Arkansas and northwestern Tennessee, where probabilities could reach 40% to 45% in some locations.
Meanwhile, occasional wind gusts near 25 mph Saturday evening are expected to diminish as the remaining tropical moisture moves northward.
Temperatures should begin moderating toward Friday, October 16, with Memphis returning to around 80 degrees and Jackson, Tennessee, near 79.
Residents planning outdoor activities should prepare for several afternoons of summerlike heat despite the mid October calendar.
