Memphis, TN — Halloween weekend could bring a soggy start to November across the Mid South, with rain expected to begin Saturday, Oct. 31, and additional rounds of precipitation possible through the early and middle portions of next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, rain chances will return early Saturday, making a wet Halloween increasingly likely across western Tennessee, eastern Arkansas and northern Mississippi.
Forecasters say expected rainfall amounts for the upcoming weekend have decreased slightly compared with earlier projections, but the overall wet weather pattern remains on track.
Rain is expected to begin early Saturday , potentially affecting outdoor Halloween celebrations, community events and trick or treating activities throughout the region.
The National Weather Service estimates that the probability of receiving at least 1 inch of rainfall through Sunday evening, Nov. 1, ranges from approximately 10% across eastern Arkansas to around 30% in northeastern Mississippi.
Those percentages represent the chance of reaching the 1 inch rainfall threshold, not the overall probability of rain.
Communities around Memphis, Bartlett, Germantown, Southaven and surrounding areas should prepare for periods of wet weather during the weekend.
Additional Rain and Thunderstorms Possible Next Week
The unsettled weather pattern is expected to continue into Monday, Nov. 2, and the following days.
Forecasters indicate that rainfall amounts could become higher during the early to middle portion of next week, with increasing chances for thunderstorms.
However, the exact timing, intensity and location of heavier rainfall remain uncertain.
Residents planning Halloween activities should monitor updated forecasts and consider indoor alternatives if rain develops during scheduled events.
Drivers may also encounter wet roads and reduced visibility during periods of rainfall.
The National Weather Service will continue refining rainfall projections as the weekend approaches.
