Memphis, TN – Memphis will experience its coolest morning of the week Tuesday, Oct. 6, before temperatures rebound and climb well into the 80s later in the week.
The National Weather Service in Memphis said Sunday that cooler, seasonable morning temperatures will arrive Monday and persist through Friday across the Mid South. Tuesday morning is expected to bring the biggest chill.
In Memphis, the forecast low drops from 59 degrees Monday morning to 55 Tuesday. Other communities will turn cooler, with lows around 49 degrees forecast in Union City, Tennessee, and 50 in Bolivar, Covington, Dyersburg and Paris.
Across the broader Mid South, Tuesday morning lows are generally expected to range from the upper 40s to lower 50s in the coolest locations. Communities farther south will be somewhat milder, including Clarksdale, Mississippi, with a forecast low of 55.
The cool mornings will contrast with increasingly warm afternoons. The NWS expects highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s early in the week before temperatures warm well into the 80s later in the week.
Morning temperatures also begin trending upward after Tuesday. Memphis is forecast to see lows of 56 Wednesday, 59 Thursday, 61 Friday and 62 Saturday.
No hazardous cold is indicated in the outlook, and the forecast temperatures remain well above freezing.
For Memphis and the Mid South, Tuesday morning's chill will be the most noticeable early week temperature change before warmer October weather builds toward the weekend.
