Sioux Falls, SD – South Dakota is well into its fall frost season, but the Sioux Falls region will avoid another significant cold push through midweek as temperatures trend warmer.
According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, quieter and dry conditions will continue through Wednesday. Aside from breezy conditions Monday, highs will generally range from the upper 60s to middle 70s, with some locations reaching around 80 Tuesday.
Sunday will bring highs of 67 to 72 degrees before temperatures fall to 45 to 50 overnight.
For locations that have not yet recorded their first frost this fall, the immediate forecast does not favor one. Overnight temperatures remain well above freezing through the period shown, and the NWS is not forecasting frost in this outlook.
Monday turns breezy but warmer, with highs from 69 to 76 degrees. Monday night will be particularly mild for October, with lows only falling into the 54 to 58 degree range.
The warmest conditions arrive Tuesday. Afternoon temperatures are forecast from 75 to 81 degrees before nighttime readings fall to 52 to 55.
Wednesday remains mild and mostly quiet, with highs of 69 to 75 and lows of 51 to 55.
The dry stretch also means few weather related disruptions are expected through midweek based on the current forecast.
For Sioux Falls and surrounding portions of southeastern South Dakota, residents can expect cool but frost free conditions Sunday night, followed by a breezy Monday and a surge into the upper 70s and potentially lower 80s Tuesday. No frost or freeze threat is indicated through Wednesday.
