SPARTANBURG, SC – Residents across Spartanburg County and portions of South Carolina's Upstate can look forward to an extended stretch of sunny, dry weather beginning Tuesday, Oct. 20, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the lower and middle 70s through Saturday. The forecast offers a favorable outlook for outdoor activities, commuting and fall events, although cooler overnight temperatures will continue to bring a noticeable autumn chill.
According to the National Weather Service Greenville Spartanburg office, Spartanburg is expected to reach approximately 74 degrees Tuesday, Oct. 20, followed by 73 degrees Wednesday and 74 degrees Thursday. Friday and Saturday are also forecast to remain mild, with afternoon highs near 73 and 72 degrees, respectively. Sunshine is expected throughout the five day period, with clear skies forecast during the available overnight periods.
The warming trend follows a cooler weekend across the area. Saturday evening temperatures at Spartanburg Memorial Airport were near 54 degrees, with overnight lows expected to fall to approximately 41 degrees. Sunday will bring sunshine and a high near 63 degrees, followed by a warmer Monday afternoon near 67 degrees. By Tuesday, temperatures are forecast to climb another seven degrees, marking the beginning of a more consistent stretch of mild afternoon weather.
For residents traveling throughout Spartanburg, Boiling Springs, Valley Falls and nearby communities, the forecast suggests generally favorable driving conditions during the workweek. The available forecast does not indicate rain, thunderstorms or other precipitation through Saturday. Drivers along Interstate 85, Interstate 26 and surrounding local roads should still remain attentive to normal traffic conditions, particularly during busy morning and evening commuting periods.
Five Day Upstate South Carolina Weather Outlook: Oct. 20 24 Tuesday, Oct. 20: Sunny skies are expected across Spartanburg, with afternoon temperatures reaching approximately 74 degrees before clear overnight conditions allow temperatures to fall to around 45 degrees.
Wednesday, Oct. 21: Another sunny day is forecast, with a high near 73 degrees and clear skies continuing into the evening as overnight temperatures drop to approximately 44 degrees.
Thursday, Oct. 22: Sunshine continues across the Spartanburg area, with temperatures reaching approximately 74 degrees during the afternoon before falling to around 46 degrees overnight under clear skies.
Friday, Oct. 23: Sunny conditions are expected to persist, with afternoon temperatures near 73 degrees and another clear night bringing lows around 46 degrees.

Extended Outlook: Oct. 25 26 The supplied National Weather Service forecast extends through Saturday, Oct. 24, and does not provide specific conditions for Sunday, Oct. 25, or Monday, Oct. 26. Updated forecasts will be necessary to determine whether the sunny, dry pattern continues into the following week or whether temperatures and precipitation chances begin changing.
The most noticeable feature of the upcoming forecast is the difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures. While afternoon readings will climb into the 70s, overnight lows will generally remain in the middle 40s. Residents leaving home early or attending evening events may want a light jacket, even when afternoons feel comfortably warm.
The extended period without forecast precipitation may also be useful for homeowners completing outdoor maintenance, landscaping or other seasonal projects. However, dry weather alone does not establish elevated wildfire danger, and residents should follow any local burning restrictions or fire safety guidance.
