Lexington, SC – Repeated complaints about gunfire in a West Columbia neighborhood led deputies to a home where investigators allegedly discovered methamphetamine and ammunition, resulting in charges against two people.
According to the Lexington County Sheriff 's Department, Christina Hope Anderson, 52, and Anthony Ray Miles, 54, both of West Columbia, were arrested last week following an investigation in the 500 block of Charity Lane.
Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said deputies received several calls and complaints about gunfire in the residential area. After investigators confirmed Miles had previously been in prison, deputies went to the home he shared with Anderson and spoke with them.
Miles allegedly admitted firing shots a few days earlier, according to Koon. Investigators determined Miles was prohibited from possessing a firearm because of a previous criminal conviction, prompting deputies to obtain a search warrant for the residence.
During the search, deputies allegedly found methamphetamine and ammunition, the sheriff's department said.
Anderson is charged with distribution of methamphetamine, second offense, according to an arrest warrant. Miles is charged with possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of certain crimes, first offense.
Deputies arrested Anderson and Miles at the home and transported them to the Lexington County Detention Center.
Both have since been released after meeting bond conditions set by a magistrate judge, according to the sheriff's department.
The arrests followed the initial gunfire complaints from residents in West Columbia, part of the Columbia metropolitan area. Authorities did not announce additional charges in the department's account of the investigation.
