Greenville, SC – Eight people have been arrested following an undercover human trafficking and prostitution operation on Greenville's Westside, with one suspect facing charges involving an alleged minor, authorities announced Wednesday.
According to the Greenville County Sheriff 's Office, its Directed Patrol Unit recently conducted a prostitution reversal and human trafficking operation using undercover deputies to identify people allegedly seeking to engage in illegal activity.
The operation resulted in eight arrests. Don A. Futrell, Jose M. Quintanilla Hernandez, Dareus M. Still, George L. Rogers, Juan C. Hernandez Zeron and Miguel E. Paz Calindres were each charged with prostitution, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Alberto Grande Diaz faces the most serious allegations announced by authorities. He was charged with human trafficking, criminal solicitation of a minor and disseminating obscene material to a minor.
Rene I. Jimenez Chavez was charged with prostitution, interfering with law enforcement, possession of marijuana and driving without a South Carolina driver's license, the Sheriff's Office said.
Authorities did not provide additional details about how the undercover operation was conducted, when the arrests occurred or whether the investigation could result in additional arrests.
The Sheriff's Office described the effort as a "human trafficking and prostitution reversal operation," meaning undercover law enforcement personnel were used to target people allegedly attempting to purchase or otherwise engage in prohibited activity.
No information about bond amounts or upcoming court appearances was included in the announcement.
All charges are allegations. Each person arrested is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
