Columbia, SC – South Carolina could carry warmer than normal weather into the beginning of November, with a new federal outlook favoring above average temperatures across the state as October comes to an end. From Columbia and the Midlands to Greenville, Charleston and Myrtle Beach, the developing late fall pattern suggests that cooler seasonal weather may struggle to establish itself consistently during the opening days of November.
According to NOAA's Climate Prediction Center, the eight to 14 day outlook issued Oct. 18 covers Monday, Oct. 26, through Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026 . The national temperature map places South Carolina within a broad region favoring above normal temperatures, while the accompanying precipitation outlook shows a less pronounced signal across portions of the Southeast.
Above Normal Temperatures Favored Across South Carolina NOAA's temperature outlook places much of South Carolina within an area showing approximately a 50% to 60% probability of above normal temperatures during the seven day period.
The signal covers the Midlands, Upstate, Pee Dee and coastal communities, although the outlook's broad geographic scale does not establish precise differences between individual cities.
Columbia, Lexington and Sumter are included in the warmer than normal pattern, as are Greenville, Spartanburg and the Charleston metropolitan area.
For residents, the outlook suggests that average temperatures during the period are more likely to exceed seasonal norms than fall into the near normal or below normal categories.
However, this does not mean every afternoon will be unusually warm or that overnight temperatures cannot become chilly. The forecast describes the overall temperature pattern rather than specific daily highs and lows.
Columbia Forecast Shows Sunny Days and Cool Nights Before the extended outlook begins, the National Weather Service is forecasting a notably dry and sunny stretch for Columbia.
Monday, Oct. 19, is expected to bring sunshine and a high near 69 degrees, followed by a clear night with temperatures falling to approximately 45 degrees.
Tuesday is forecast to reach 75 degrees under sunny skies, while Wednesday and Thursday should both reach around 74 degrees.
Overnight lows are expected to remain in the middle to upper 40s, including approximately 47 degrees Tuesday night and 45 degrees Wednesday night.
The sunny conditions continue into the weekend, with Friday reaching approximately 73 degrees, Saturday around 71 and Sunday near 73.
These daily forecasts apply to Oct. 19–25, not the later Oct. 26–Nov. 1 outlook.
What the November Precipitation Outlook Shows NOAA's precipitation outlook presents a different picture from its widespread temperature signal.
Much of South Carolina falls within the near normal precipitation category, meaning the map does not establish a strong statewide tendency toward unusually wet or unusually dry conditions.
This distinction is important because above normal temperatures do not automatically guarantee sunny skies or an extended rain free period.
Residents planning outdoor events, fall festivals or travel during the transition into November should continue monitoring updated local forecasts as the period approaches.
The Climate Prediction Center's outlook indicates that South Carolina is favored to begin November on the warmer side of normal, but shorter range forecasts will be needed to determine actual temperatures, rainfall chances and the timing of any cooler periods.
