PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A cold start to November will quickly give way to much warmer weather across Rhode Island, with Providence climbing from the lower 30s early Sunday to around 70 degrees by Wednesday and Thursday.
The National Weather Service forecast for Providence calls for an overnight low near 33 before sunshine sends temperatures to around 59 Sunday, Nov. 1. Monday jumps to approximately 68, followed by another 68 degree day Tuesday, 70 Wednesday and 71 Thursday.
30s Give Way to 70s The first part of the warmup is expected to remain dry. Sunday is forecast to be sunny, followed by more sunshine Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday remain mostly sunny as the November temperature climb continues.
Nighttime temperatures rise as well. After the early low around 33, Sunday night falls to approximately 40. Monday night reaches around 45, followed by 48 Tuesday night and 53 Wednesday night.
The difference is substantial: Providence moves from near freezing conditions early Sunday to a forecast high near 71 Thursday, Nov. 5 — nearly a 40 degree spread between the coldest early November reading and the warmest forecast afternoon.
Rain Arrives Late Week Thursday remains partly sunny with a high near 71 before moisture begins increasing Thursday night. The Weather Service lists a 40% chance of rain overnight with a low near 57.
Rain becomes likely Friday, with a 60% chance and a high near 69. Friday night remains wet with a 60% chance of rain, followed by another 60% chance Saturday and a cooler high near 63.
The rain provides a meaningful late week change, but temperature remains the stronger extended story for Rhode Island.
November Warmth Could Continue NOAA's November temperature outlook favors above normal temperatures across New England, and its separate Climate Prediction Center outlook valid Nov. 8–14 continues to favor above normal temperatures across Rhode Island and the Northeast.
That matches the broader Northeast editorial signal: November warmth remains favored, while extended precipitation carries a less remarkable signal.
The outlook does not mean Providence will stay around 70 every day through Nov. 14. Individual cold fronts and chilly nights remain possible. CPC guidance describes the average temperature across the period rather than exact daily highs.
For Providence, however, the immediate shift is clear: 33 early Sunday, upper 60s Monday and Tuesday, then around 70–71 Wednesday and Thursday.
It remains too early for a specific Thanksgiving Day forecast on Nov. 26, but the persistent warmth will be worth monitoring as Rhode Island moves toward the holiday travel season.
