Williamsport, PA – With November 2026 approaching, last year's weather records from north central Pennsylvania reveal an unusually dry start to the colder season. Williamsport experienced one of its driest Novembers in more than a century, with almost no measurable snowfall despite several nights of freezing temperatures.
According to the National Weather Service's November 2025 climate summary for Williamsport, the city recorded just 1.00 inch of precipitation during the month, compared with a historical normal of 3.25 inches. That represents a deficit of 2.25 inches, approximately 69% below normal.
The report ranked November 2025 as the 13th driest November in Williamsport's 129 year period of record.
November Snowfall Was Almost Completely Absent Williamsport's snowfall observations reveal another interesting detail.
The National Weather Service recorded only a trace of snow during November 2025, compared with a historical monthly normal of 1.7 inches.
A trace indicates snow was observed but did not accumulate enough to register as a measurable amount.
The report also listed zero days with at least 0.1 inches of measurable snowfall.
That means Williamsport completed the entire month without an officially measurable snowfall event at its observation station.
The November 2025 snowfall total ranked tied for the 11th lowest in the station's 87 year snowfall record.
Although the daily snowfall chart shows historical record values for individual dates, it does not identify any new daily snowfall records during November 2025.
Temperatures Were Slightly Above Normal Williamsport recorded an average temperature of 41.8 degrees during November 2025, approximately 0.1 degrees above normal.
The month's average high temperature was 50.8 degrees, while the average low was 32.9 degrees.
Temperatures reached 69 degrees at their warmest and fell to 27 degrees at their coldest.
The National Weather Service also recorded 17 days with low temperatures at or below 32 degrees.
Despite those freezing nights, the city did not experience measurable snowfall.
This illustrates an important distinction about early season winter weather.
Cold temperatures alone do not guarantee snow. Sufficient moisture and favorable atmospheric conditions must occur at the same time for accumulating snowfall to develop.
Williamsport's unusually limited precipitation was a major feature of the month.
What November 2025 Means for 2026 The combination of minimal snowfall, unusually low precipitation and slightly above normal temperatures provides useful historical perspective as another November approaches.
However, last year's conditions do not predict whether November 2026 will be similarly dry or bring more substantial precipitation.
For residents across Williamsport, Lycoming County and surrounding north central Pennsylvania communities, early season weather can change quickly when colder air and approaching storm systems arrive together.
A dry November can be followed by a wetter December, just as a relatively mild autumn can give way to accumulating snowfall.
The National Weather Service's records demonstrate that November weather can vary considerably from year to year.
As November 2026 approaches, will Williamsport experience another unusually dry month, or could more typical precipitation and early season snowfall return?
