State College, PA – Residents across the State College area of Centre County are facing several frosty mornings this week, with temperatures expected to fall as low as 29 degrees Friday night into Saturday, October 24. The coldest conditions could affect sensitive outdoor plants, gardens and other vegetation before a warmer pattern develops Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, widespread frost is expected around State College on multiple mornings through Saturday. Forecast temperatures will repeatedly approach or fall below freezing overnight, even as daytime sunshine brings highs into the upper 50s and lower 60s.
The most significant temperature concern arrives Friday night, when the forecast low drops to approximately 29 degrees, three degrees below freezing.
Repeated Frost Could Affect Outdoor Plants The chilly pattern affects the State College area in central Pennsylvania, including communities around Penn State University and the broader Centre County region.
While afternoon conditions will remain generally pleasant, temperatures are expected to fall sharply after sunset under mostly clear skies.
The National Weather Service forecast specifically identifies widespread frost Saturday morning, following additional frost potential Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Residents with sensitive outdoor plants should consider protecting them before nighttime temperatures fall. Container plants may be moved indoors, while vulnerable garden vegetation can be covered with appropriate protective materials.
A frost forecast does not automatically mean an official frost advisory or freeze warning has been issued. Residents should check the latest National Weather Service alerts for any changes.

Monday, October 26, is expected to bring mostly sunny skies and highs near 67 degrees, followed by partly cloudy conditions and lows around 41 degrees Monday night.
Tuesday, October 27, will remain mostly sunny, with highs near 62 degrees.
NOAA's Climate Prediction Center outlook for October 28 through November 3 favors above normal temperatures across central Pennsylvania, while precipitation probabilities are generally near normal.
The longer range outlook does not guarantee that freezing temperatures are finished for the season.
For residents around State College, the immediate concern remains the repeated overnight frost, particularly Friday night into Saturday morning, when temperatures could fall into the upper 20s.
