Somerset, PA – Pennsylvania State Police are seeking information about a suspect in a wire fraud investigation after a Somerset County victim allegedly lost $50,000 from online bank accounts.
According to Pennsylvania State Police Troop A’s Somerset Barracks, investigators received a report involving theft by wire fraud and later identified a man they believe may be connected to the scheme.
Police said the victim met with the suspect at approximately 6:48 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, in the rear parking lot of the Harold Shepley and Associates law firm at 209 W. Patriot St. in Somerset Borough.
Authorities described the suspect as an Asian man who was wearing a white and green hat, black T shirt, gray sweatpants and white shoes.
Investigators allege the man attempted to coerce the victim into handing over additional money in person. Police said the suspect left the parking lot after the victim did not give him money and walked north on South Edgewood Avenue toward the Em’s Subs parking lot, where his vehicle was parked.
State police believe the man is allegedly connected to an online group responsible for defrauding the victim of approximately $50,000.
Investigators obtained photographs of the suspect at the law office and images of his vehicle near Em’s Subs, according to the release.
No arrest had been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.
