PITTSBURGH — November is starting unusually mild across western Pennsylvania, with Pittsburgh temperatures expected to reach the upper 60s Sunday and Monday before surging into the mid 70s Tuesday and Wednesday.
The National Weather Service forecast for Pittsburgh calls for a high near 69 Sunday, Nov. 1, followed by another high near 69 Monday. Temperatures then jump to around 75 Tuesday before peaking near 76 Wednesday.
Mid 70s Arrive Tuesday and Wednesday Sunday remains mostly cloudy, followed by partly sunny skies Monday. Tuesday turns mostly sunny as the warmest stretch begins, while Wednesday remains partly sunny with temperatures climbing another degree.
Nighttime temperatures also trend milder. Sunday night falls to around 48, followed by 49 Monday night and 52 Tuesday night. Wednesday night remains much warmer around 58 as moisture begins increasing.
That gives Pittsburgh a striking early November run, with four consecutive days near or above the upper 60s and temperatures reaching the mid 70s by Nov. 3–4.
Rain Returns Wednesday Night The pattern becomes wetter late Wednesday.
The Weather Service forecasts rain becoming likely mainly after 1 a.m. Wednesday night, with a 60% precipitation chance. Thursday remains wet, with rain likely and a 70% chance of precipitation while temperatures stay mild near 72.
Rain chances continue Thursday night at 50% and Friday at 50%, when the high is expected near 68. By Saturday, the current forecast turns mostly cloudy and cooler with a high around 63.
The rain therefore interrupts the warm stretch, but it does not immediately produce a sharp winterlike cooldown.
November Warmth Could Continue The local forecast fits the broader November pattern across Pennsylvania.
NOAA's newly released November outlook favors above normal temperatures across much of Pennsylvania, while the Climate Prediction Center's separate Nov. 8–14 outlook continues to favor above normal temperatures across the region.
That supports a broader warm first half of November story rather than an early sustained push toward winter. The desk framework specifically identifies persistent warmth as the stronger extended weather angle across Pennsylvania and surrounding Mid Atlantic areas.
The outlook does not mean Pittsburgh will remain in the 70s every day through Nov. 14. Individual cold fronts, chilly nights and cooler days remain possible. CPC guidance describes average temperatures across the entire period rather than exact daily highs.
For Pittsburgh, though, the immediate numbers are hard to miss: 69 Sunday and Monday, 75 Tuesday, 76 Wednesday and 72 Thursday before temperatures begin easing.
It remains too early for a specific Thanksgiving Day forecast on Nov. 26, but the warm November signal is worth monitoring as Pennsylvania moves closer to the holiday travel season.
When do you expect Pittsburgh to get its first real taste of winter?
