Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – Dry weather returns Wednesday afternoon, followed by rising temperatures that could reach the upper 60s to mid 70s by Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, sunshine and dry conditions are expected from Wednesday afternoon through at least Tuesday. The extended outlook also favors above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation around western Pennsylvania.
The warmer pattern will develop gradually after several cooler days. Temperatures are expected to return to above normal levels by Sunday, with highs ranging from the upper 60s to the mid 70s depending on location.
The Climate Prediction Center's six to 10 day outlook, valid from Sunday through Thursday, places western Pennsylvania in an area favoring above normal temperatures. The same outlook favors below normal precipitation across the Pittsburgh region.
The extended dry period would mark a notable change from the recent wetter pattern referenced by the Weather Service. Residents should get a stretch of better conditions for outdoor work, travel and other activities beginning Wednesday afternoon.
The outlook does not mean every location will record the same temperatures or remain completely rain free throughout the broader six to 10 day period. It indicates whether temperatures and precipitation are more likely to fall above, near or below their normal ranges over that period.
For Pittsburgh and surrounding western Pennsylvania communities, the immediate change arrives Wednesday afternoon as drier weather develops. Temperatures then trend upward into the weekend, with above normal warmth favored from Sunday through early next week.
