Pittsburgh, PA – A chilly start to Sunday, Oct. 18, will give way to sunshine and a relatively mild afternoon across western Pennsylvania, beginning a stretch of dry weather expected to continue through much of the upcoming week. Temperatures could reach the middle 60s on several afternoons, while overnight lows remain considerably cooler.
According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, high pressure is expected to maintain dry conditions and near average temperatures across the region through the upcoming week.
The latest forecast, issued Sunday morning, shows afternoon highs generally ranging from the upper 50s to middle 60s, with limited cloud cover through Wednesday.
How warm will Pennsylvania get this week?
Sunday afternoon temperatures are expected to reach approximately 59 degrees across the region following a chilly morning.
By Monday, Oct. 19, highs should climb to around 64 degrees, with similar temperatures forecast Tuesday and Wednesday.
Thursday, Oct. 22, could bring another afternoon near 64 degrees before slightly cooler conditions arrive Friday, when highs are projected near 61.
The pattern should provide favorable conditions for outdoor activities, fall travel and residents enjoying the remaining autumn foliage.
How cold will mornings get?
Despite comfortable afternoons, overnight temperatures will frequently fall into the 30s and 40s.
Some colder locations could approach the middle 30s early in the week, while other communities remain closer to 40 degrees.
Residents heading to work or school during the morning hours may want jackets before temperatures rebound.
Will rain return before the weekend?
The National Weather Service expects high pressure to dominate, keeping precipitation chances limited through Friday, Oct. 23.
Mostly sunny skies are favored early in the week, with some additional cloud cover possible Thursday and Friday.
Looking ahead: NOAA's Oct. 25 31 outlook favors above normal temperatures across much of Pennsylvania, suggesting the possibility of milder conditions heading toward Halloween.
For now, western Pennsylvania can expect a generally quiet weather week, with chilly mornings, mild afternoons and little indication of significant rainfall.
