Philadelphia, PA – Sunshine and temperatures in the middle 60s will make the coming days feel more like early fall than November. However, a noticeable weather shift is approaching Pennsylvania, bringing rain, colder air and renewed interest in early season snow possibilities across parts of the Northeast.
According to the National Weather Service Philadelphia area forecast, temperatures could reach 64 degrees Tuesday, Nov. 10, and Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, before falling sharply toward the end of the week.
By Friday night, temperatures in Philadelphia could dip to 33 degrees, marking a 31 degree difference from the week's warmest afternoon temperatures.
Warm Weather Gives Way to a Colder Pattern
Philadelphia will enjoy several days of relatively comfortable November weather.
Monday brings mostly sunny skies and highs near 61 degrees, although northwest winds could gust to 30 mph.
Tuesday and Wednesday will feature sunshine and highs near 64 degrees, offering residents opportunities for outdoor activities and late season yard cleanup.
However, the weather pattern begins changing Thursday.
Rain Arrives Thursday Into Friday
Thursday brings increasing clouds and a 50% chance of afternoon rain, with temperatures reaching approximately 58 degrees.
Rain becomes more likely Thursday night, when precipitation chances climb to 60%.
Friday will feel noticeably colder, with highs near 49 degrees and a 50% chance of rain.
By Friday night, temperatures could fall to approximately 33 degrees, approaching the freezing mark.
Residents traveling along I 95, I 76 and surrounding highways should watch for wet pavement during periods of rainfall.
Could Philadelphia See Its First Snowflakes?
Early season snow opportunities are beginning to appear across colder portions of the Great Lakes and northern New England.
Higher elevations of interior northern New England could experience wet snow mixing with rain, according to NOAA's national weather discussion.
However, Philadelphia's current official forecast does not include snow.
While colder temperatures could eventually support wintry precipitation later in November, the available data does not establish a snow event for southeastern Pennsylvania.
For now, rain remains the expected precipitation type.
Philadelphia Five Day Weather Outlook
