PHILADELPHIA — November begins with a substantial warmup in Philadelphia, with temperatures expected to climb from the lower 60s Sunday into the 70s Tuesday and reach around 74 degrees Wednesday and Thursday before a wetter pattern develops late in the week.
The National Weather Service forecast for Philadelphia calls for a high near 63 Sunday, Nov. 1, followed by 67 Monday. Temperatures reach around 70 Tuesday before climbing to 74 Wednesday and Thursday. Friday remains mild near 72, with a high near 68 currently forecast Saturday.
70s Arrive Tuesday Mostly dry weather accompanies the first part of the warming trend. Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny, followed by another mostly sunny day Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday also remain mostly sunny.
Overnight temperatures climb along with the daytime highs. Sunday night is expected to fall to around 41, followed by 44 Monday night, 50 Tuesday night and 57 Wednesday night.
That gives Philadelphia a noticeable transition from a chilly start to November into a much milder midweek pattern.
The weather begins changing Thursday. The Weather Service forecasts a 50% chance of rain with a high near 74. Rain becomes likely Thursday night, with precipitation chances increasing to 60% and temperatures only falling to around 60.
Rain remains likely Friday with a 60% chance and another mild high near 72. Friday night carries a 50% rain chance before conditions begin improving Saturday, when the current forecast calls for a 30% chance of rain, partly sunny skies and a high near 68.
November Warmth Could Persist The local warmup fits the larger pattern developing across Pennsylvania and the Mid Atlantic.
NOAA's November temperature outlook favors above normal temperatures across Pennsylvania, while the Climate Prediction Center's separate outlook for Nov. 8–14 continues to favor above normal temperatures across the Mid Atlantic.
That makes temperature the stronger extended weather story. The broader guidance supports a warm first half of November rather than an early sustained push toward winter conditions.
The signal does not mean Philadelphia will remain in the 70s every day through Nov. 14. Individual cold fronts and cooler days remain possible. CPC outlooks describe the average temperature during the full period, not specific daily highs.
Precipitation carries a weaker extended signal. NOAA's November outlook gives much of the Mid Atlantic equal chances for above , near or below normal precipitation, while the Nov. 8–14 outlook is generally closer to near normal across the region.
Winter Still Waiting For Philadelphia, the immediate numbers tell the story: 70 Tuesday, 74 Wednesday and Thursday, and 72 Friday , followed by a broader forecast continuing to favor warmth into Nov. 8–14 .
It remains too early to forecast Thanksgiving Day on Nov. 26, but the persistent warmth will be worth watching as Pennsylvania moves deeper into November and toward the Thanksgiving travel season.
When do you expect Philadelphia to get its first real taste of winter?
