Fort Wayne, Indiana – Drivers south of U.S. 30 could encounter brief downpours or lightning Thursday as scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms develop, while much of northern Indiana stays dry before temperatures climb into the 80s this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service Northern Indiana office, shower and thunderstorm chances Thursday range from 20% to 50% south of U.S. 30. Highs will reach 75 to 79 degrees before temperatures fall into the 50s overnight. Motorists around Fort Wayne and communities along U.S. 30 should watch for rapidly changing conditions where storms develop.
Friday turns mainly dry with highs of 77 to 81 degrees, although a 20% to 40% chance of showers returns Friday night along and south of U.S. 24.
Saturday brings another localized storm opportunity, with a 20% to 50% chance south of U.S. 24 and east of I 69. Highs climb to 81 to 86 degrees. Anyone with outdoor plans should have quick access to shelter if thunder develops.
Sunday is expected to stay mainly dry with highs from 77 to 85 degrees. By Monday, temperatures could reach 90 degrees as another 20% chance of showers or storms develops, increasing to 20% to 50% Monday night.
