Newberg, OR – A suspected drug trafficking investigation in Yamhill County led to the seizure of approximately 2.2 pounds of methamphetamine and fentanyl after authorities stopped a vehicle entering a Newberg Walgreens parking lot Wednesday.
According to the Yamhill County Sheriff ’s Office, its Street Crimes and Narcotics Team, Special Investigations Unit and Rural Patrol Red Team conducted the Sept. 30 traffic stop after developing information that the vehicle’s occupants were allegedly trafficking significant quantities of controlled substances into Yamhill County.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation. Authorities said K 9 Puddles conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the odor of controlled substances.
Investigators subsequently obtained and served a search warrant. The Sheriff’s Office said the search resulted in the seizure of approximately 2.2 pounds of methamphetamine, 6.8 grams of fentanyl and additional paraphernalia .
Jeremy Brandon Tarozzi, 43, of Carlton, was taken into custody and booked into the Yamhill County Correctional Facility.
Authorities said Tarozzi faces charges of unlawful delivery of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of methamphetamine — substantial quantity. The allegations have not been proven in court.
“Our detectives, deputies, and partner agencies continue to work tirelessly to keep dangerous drugs out of our communities,” Sheriff Sam Elliott said in a statement.
The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are anticipated. Officials did not provide further details about other occupants of the vehicle or indicate whether additional arrests had been made.
