Medford, OR – A Southern Oregon delivery facility will permanently shut down in December, eliminating 170 jobs in Medford as workers face termination just weeks before the holidays.
According to an Oct. 6 notice submitted to Oregon workforce officials, Rainforest Routes LLC plans to permanently close its delivery facility at 601 Federal Way in Medford on Monday, Dec. 7.
The closure will affect 170 employees, with all separations expected to occur on the same day. The notice says the layoffs will be permanent.
Delivery associates account for the overwhelming majority of the job losses. The filing lists 163 delivery associate positions, three manager positions and four administrative jobs scheduled for elimination.
The closure will affect workers in Medford, the largest city in Jackson County and a major employment and transportation hub for Southern Oregon.
Rainforest Routes said affected employees are being notified of their separation dates and the permanent nature of the job losses. The company expects the facility itself to close Dec. 7, with the first and final employee separations also occurring that day.
The notice also states that affected workers will not have bumping rights, meaning employees will not be able to displace other workers based on seniority or similar employment provisions.
The filing was sent to Oregon's Dislocated Worker Unit and local workforce officials as an announcement of planned action.
For Medford area workers, the shutdown represents a sizable single facility employment loss heading into the final weeks of 2026. The notice does not indicate that the facility closure is temporary or that the eliminated positions will return at a later date.
