Florence, OR – A western Lane County property crime investigation has ended with a 30 month prison sentence for a Florence man after authorities said evidence connected him to several cases.
According to the Lane County Sheriff ’s Office, 36 year old Jason Scott Sprinkle was sentenced Wednesday to 30 months in the Oregon Department of Corrections. Sprinkle pleaded guilty to second degree burglary and possession of a stolen vehicle.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation involved several property crimes across western Lane County, where cases involving multiple victims can cross law enforcement jurisdictions.
Deputies and detectives worked with other area police agencies to collect and review evidence from multiple cases. Investigators also used digital forensic techniques to search and examine evidence found on seized electronic devices, according to the sheriff’s office.
The case dates back to March 4, when members of the Lane County Sheriff’s Special Response Team, detectives, a West Lane district deputy, Florence police officers and an Oregon State Police trooper served a search warrant at a home in the 2200 block of 12th Street in Florence.
Authorities said Sprinkle was the primary subject of the warrant.
During the operation, Sprinkle allegedly attempted to flee on foot while armed with a knife, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies used a Taser, and authorities said Sprinkle dropped the knife before being taken into custody without further incident.
Investigators reported finding stolen property connected to several cases during the search, along with additional construction materials and tools.
The sheriff’s office credited cooperation among local law enforcement agencies and extensive evidence review with moving the investigation forward.
