Creswell, OR – Authorities in western Oregon are searching for a vehicle involved in a deadly hit and run that killed a 49 year old pedestrian Thursday night, with investigators asking residents to watch for a gray or silver vehicle that may have visible damage.
According to the Lane County Sheriff 's Office, deputies responded around 8:27 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9 , to a reported vehicle versus pedestrian crash on River Drive near East Cloverdale Road, outside Creswell, south of the Eugene Springfield metropolitan area.
Investigators said the vehicle allegedly fled the scene after striking the pedestrian.
Deputies and emergency medical personnel from South Lane Fire responded, but the pedestrian did not survive.
Authorities identified the victim as 49 year old Justin Dewayne Jones .
Investigators Searching for Vehicle With Possible Damage
The Lane County Sheriff's Office Major Crash investigators were called to assist with the investigation.
Detectives believe the vehicle involved may be a gray or silver hatchback style passenger car or small SUV .
Authorities said the vehicle could have light damage to its front end, driver's side or both.
Investigators have not released a specific make, model or license plate number.
The sheriff's office is asking anyone who may have seen a vehicle matching that description, witnessed the crash or has information about the incident to contact investigators.
Public Asked to Help Identify Vehicle
Residents traveling through the River Drive and East Cloverdale Road area around the time of the collision may have information useful to investigators.

Authorities have not announced an arrest or publicly identified a suspected driver in the information released.
The fatal hit and run remains under investigation as deputies continue seeking assistance from the public.
