Beaverton, OR – Seven people were arrested during an organized retail theft enforcement mission in unincorporated Washington County near Beaverton, authorities announced.
According to the Washington County Sheriff ’s Office , detectives partnered with local businesses on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, as part of an operation targeting organized retail theft and shoplifting.
Sheriff’s detectives and uniformed patrol deputies worked alongside asset protection employees at Fred Meyer and Target to identify people allegedly committing thefts at the stores.
Authorities said seven individuals were taken into custody during the operation. The arrests involved alleged theft offenses, outstanding arrest warrants and criminal mischief connected with property damage.
Detectives also recovered hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise from people arrested during the mission, according to the sheriff’s office.
Officials did not release the names of those arrested or provide individual charge details in the announcement. The sheriff’s office also did not specify the exact value of the recovered merchandise or identify which store locations were involved.
The enforcement effort was funded through a grant obtained by the Washington County District Attorney’s Office from the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission .
Sheriff’s officials said the department plans to continue working with retailers and other law enforcement partners on additional initiatives aimed at organized retail theft and shoplifting throughout Washington County.
The operation comes as law enforcement agencies and businesses continue coordinated efforts to identify alleged repeat theft activity and recover stolen merchandise.
