Tulsa, OK – A few showers could linger across southeast Oklahoma into Saturday evening before cooler, drier air spreads across the region Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, periods of low impact showers and isolated thunderstorms will primarily affect southeast Oklahoma and western Arkansas. The chance for lightning is low.
Rain chances Saturday are highest toward southeast Oklahoma. Hugo has a 43% chance of rain during the day, while McAlester has a 31% chance. Farther north, Tulsa has just a 4% chance.
Saturday temperatures will generally reach the 70s across much of eastern Oklahoma, including 75 degrees in Tulsa, 76 in McAlester and 77 in Hugo. Fort Smith, Arkansas, is forecast to reach 77.
Drier conditions take over Sunday, with rain becoming unlikely across most of the area. Tulsa is forecast to reach 79 degrees after a morning low of 58, while McAlester could reach 83. Fort Smith could climb to 85.
The dry pattern is expected to persist from Sunday through Friday, but temperatures will turn warmer again. The NWS said fall like weekend temperatures will trend toward unseasonably warm conditions next week.
Tulsa's forecast rises from 77 degrees Monday to 81 Tuesday, 83 Wednesday and 86 Thursday. McAlester could reach the mid 80s by the middle of the week, while Hugo is forecast to reach 87 Thursday.
Residents in southeast Oklahoma should expect the remaining showers to taper off by Saturday evening, followed by a dry Sunday and a warming trend during the coming week.
