Oklahoma drivers could encounter pockets of thickening fog and frosty surfaces this weekend before temperatures surge into the 70s. The changing November weather pattern brings chilly mornings, potential visibility concerns and a remarkable warmup by Tuesday.
Across northeastern Oklahoma, the greatest immediate concern involves patchy fog that could affect travel through Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, a hazardous weather outlook identifies a limited risk of poor visibility. Fog remains possible across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas, particularly near the Arkansas River valley.
Temperatures at Tulsa International Airport were already near 35 degrees early Saturday, with humidity approaching 96%.
Sunday Morning Brings Another Round of Fog and Frost Saturday afternoon temperatures should climb toward 58 degrees as clouds gradually give way to sunshine.
However, another chilly period develops Saturday night.
Temperatures fall near 39 degrees, with patchy fog possible after midnight and patchy frost developing after 2 a.m.
Sunday morning could bring the greatest combination of fog and frost concerns.
Patchy fog and frost remain possible before 8 a.m., potentially affecting visibility and exposed vegetation.
Drivers using Interstate 44, U.S. Highway 169 and surrounding roads should watch for changing visibility.
Use low beam headlights when encountering fog and allow additional following distance.
Although frost is possible, widespread icy roads are not forecast.
Tuesday Brings a Dramatic November Warmup The colder conditions will not last long.
Sunday afternoon temperatures rebound toward 68 degrees under sunny skies.
Monday brings additional sunshine, with highs reaching approximately 71 degrees.
By Tuesday, temperatures could climb to 74 degrees, creating a 39 degree difference from Saturday morning's observed 35 degrees.
That warmer stretch offers favorable conditions for outdoor work, leaf cleanup and winter preparation.
Wednesday, Veterans Day, remains mostly sunny, with temperatures near 73 degrees.
What Happens After the Warmup? The National Weather Service expects generally quiet weather through the workweek, with no significant hazardous conditions highlighted after Sunday.
Thursday brings sunshine and a cooler high near 66 degrees.
Friday temperatures retreat further, reaching approximately 61 degrees.
No snow, tornadoes or severe thunderstorms are indicated in the supplied Tulsa outlook.
Although colder weather becomes increasingly possible later in November, no specific Thanksgiving snow event is established.
For now, residents should prepare for foggy mornings before enjoying several mild November afternoons.
