OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Sunshine and temperatures in the 90s will give way to showers and possible thunderstorms Wednesday, Oct. 14, bringing potentially wet roads across the Oklahoma City metropolitan area.
Rain chances climb to 70% Wednesday, raising concerns about slippery pavement, reduced visibility and possible disruptions during afternoon and evening travel.
According to the National Weather Service in Norman, showers are likely Wednesday, with thunderstorms also possible. Temperatures should reach 88 degrees before dropping near 68 overnight.
The unsettled weather could affect Oklahoma City, Cleveland County communities including Norman and Moore, and surrounding areas if storms develop across the metro.
Wednesday night carries another 70% chance of precipitation, extending the potential for wet driving conditions into the overnight hours.
Before the weather changes, central Oklahoma will experience several days of unusually warm October temperatures.
Sunday, Oct. 11, brings increasing clouds and a high near 91 degrees. Southwest winds could gust to 26 mph.
Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 12, remains sunny and warm, with temperatures reaching approximately 92 degrees. Wind gusts could approach 24 mph, although outdoor holiday plans should generally benefit from dry conditions.
Tuesday, Oct. 13, becomes the warmest day, with sunshine and a high near 94 degrees.
However, the pattern begins changing Tuesday night, when showers and thunderstorms become possible. The precipitation chance reaches 50%, potentially affecting overnight travel.
Five Day Outlook: Thursday, Oct. 15, brings another 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures cooling to 79 degrees.
Friday offers improving conditions, with partly sunny skies, a 30% shower chance and a high near 72.
Saturday, Oct. 17, looks mostly sunny, with temperatures near 70 degrees.
