Enid, OK – A frost advisory has been issued for portions of northern Oklahoma early Saturday morning, with temperatures expected to fall as low as 36 degrees. Residents across four counties are being urged to protect sensitive outdoor plants before frost develops around daybreak.
According to the National Weather Service in Norman, the advisory will be in effect from 4 a.m. until 8 a.m. CST Saturday, Nov. 7, covering Garfield, Grant, Kay and Noble counties.
The advisory includes several communities across northern Oklahoma, including Enid, Ponca City, Perry, Blackwell, Medford, Pond Creek, Lamont and Wakita.
Four Oklahoma Counties Face Early Morning Frost Forecasters expect temperatures to drop into the middle 30s Saturday morning, creating conditions favorable for frost formation.
Although the forecast low of 36 degrees is above freezing, frost can still form on exposed surfaces when conditions allow.
The National Weather Service warns that frost could damage sensitive outdoor vegetation, including flowers, garden plants and other tender vegetation.
Some sensitive plants may be killed if left uncovered during the coldest early morning hours.
What Residents Should Do Before Saturday Morning Residents in affected communities should consider bringing potted plants indoors Friday evening or covering vulnerable outdoor vegetation before temperatures fall overnight.
Gardeners and homeowners with sensitive plants should take precautions ahead of the 4 a.m. advisory start.
The frost advisory is scheduled to expire at 8 a.m. CST Saturday as the early morning cold threat eases.
Residents across Garfield, Grant, Kay and Noble counties should continue monitoring National Weather Service updates for changes in forecast temperatures or advisory coverage.
