Troy, OH – A coordinated law enforcement operation in Miami County has checked the registered addresses of 179 offenders, with authorities confirming 114 addresses and announcing continued compliance checks through the end of 2026.
According to a news release issued Wednesday, Oct. 28, by Miami County Sheriff Dave Duchak, the operation marked the 14th consecutive year of the county's coordinated offender registration compliance initiative.
Multiple Agencies Join Enforcement Operation The operation involved 29 law enforcement officers working alongside the Miami County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Marshals Service, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Ohio Adult Parole Authority.
Police departments from Troy, Piqua, Tipp City, Covington and West Milton also participated, along with the Miami County Communications Center.
The effort focused on verifying addresses associated with registered sex, arson and violent offenders.
Six Cases Previously Resulted in Charges Before Wednesday's operation, the sheriff's office had investigated 19 possible registration violations through routine address checks and public tips.
Those investigations resulted in six cases in which charges were filed for noncompliance.
Nine addresses were eventually verified, while four cases were determined to be unfounded.
The sheriff's office did not indicate that the six cases resulted from Wednesday's coordinated operation.
Additional Checks Planned Through December At the beginning of the operation, Miami County had 179 registered offenders.
Authorities reported verifying 114 addresses, with remaining addresses scheduled for additional random checks before year's end.
Deputies will initiate investigations and pursue charges when appropriate if additional violations are discovered.
Ohio law requires individuals subject to offender registration requirements to report their residential addresses to the sheriff's office in their county of residence.
