Ohio – Downpours could soak Columbus roads today as an 80% rain chance combines with an active Flood Watch across central Ohio. Thunderstorms may add locally heavier rainfall before conditions gradually improve Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, the Flood Watch remains in effect through midnight tonight. Showers and thunderstorms are expected before 11 a.m., followed by another round this afternoon.
Showers become likely with possible thunderstorms between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Additional storms remain possible after 3 p.m.
The overall precipitation chance reaches 80%. Rainfall between one tenth and one quarter inch is expected, although thunderstorms could produce higher amounts.
Drivers on I 70, I 71 and I 270 should watch for sudden visibility reductions and water collecting on pavement. Allow more stopping distance and never enter flooded roadways.
Tonight keeps a 60% rain chance. Showers and thunderstorms remain likely before 11 p.m., with additional showers possible through midnight.
Sunday brings improvement, but the storm risk does not completely disappear. Temperatures jump to around 86 degrees before a 30% thunderstorm chance develops after 2 p.m.
Sunday evening carries another 30% storm chance before 11 p.m.
Monday finally delivers a cleaner break. Mostly sunny skies return, but temperatures reach only about 78 degrees. By early Tuesday, readings tumble to around 59.
That& 39;s a 27 degree drop from Sunday& 39;s high.
Tuesday rebounds quickly to 85 under mostly sunny skies. Wednesday turns warmer near 88, although a 30% shower chance returns.
The provided NWS outlook does not identify a specific tornado threat. Still, thunderstorms warrant attention while the Flood Watch remains active.
Thursday brings another wetter period, with showers likely and a 60% rain chance.
For now, today& 39;s Flood Watch is the immediate concern. Check conditions before traveling and watch for updated alerts through midnight. Seeing heavy rain around Columbus? Tell us what conditions look like where you are.
