Columbus, OH – A man has been arrested following a disturbing incident on The Ohio State University's campus Tuesday morning, where witnesses reported hearing gunshots after a confrontation involving two vehicles near a university building.
According to The Ohio State University Police Division, the incident occurred around 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, along the Lincoln Tower service drive near the loading dock off Cannon Drive.
Investigators say two vehicles entered the service drive, apparently attempting to make deliveries.
A verbal confrontation allegedly developed between the individuals involved before one vehicle drove around the other, striking it while passing.
Witnesses reported hearing loud arguing followed by what sounded like gunshots.
Both vehicles subsequently left the campus area, prompting university police to investigate the incident as an aggravated assault.
In a subsequent update, Ohio State police confirmed that one male suspect had been arrested and charged with felonious assault.
Authorities also clarified that the suspect is not affiliated with the university, meaning he is not a student, faculty member or employee.
The individual's name and additional identifying information were not included in the provided police updates.
University officials initially issued a public safety notice because the reported crime was considered a potential concern or continuing threat to the campus community.
The investigation remains active, and police have not provided additional details about the reported gunshots, possible injuries or whether a firearm was recovered.
