Williston, ND – A 16 year old motorcyclist suffered serious, life threatening injuries following a collision with a van at a local intersection on Saturday evening. The crash occurred at approximately 8:27 p.m. at the intersection of 2nd Avenue West and 42nd Street West.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2025 Kawasaki EX500 sportbike was traveling north on 2nd Avenue West at a high rate of speed when it struck the rear of a 2013 Chrysler Town & Country van. The van was reportedly stopped for a red light at the intersection at the time of the impact.
The 16 year old rider, a male from Alamo, was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Following the incident, he was transported to a medical facility and subsequently flown to Sanford Health in Fargo for treatment of his injuries.
The driver of the van, a 42 year old male from Williston, sustained minor injuries and was transported to CHI St. Alexius Health in Williston.
Responding to the scene were the North Dakota State Patrol, Williston Police Department , Williston Fire Department , and Williston Ambulance. Officials noted that road and weather conditions were clear and dry at the time of the collision.
The North Dakota State Patrol is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities have stated that the identity of the juvenile will not be released to the public in accordance with North Dakota Century Code 39 08 13 5 .
