Minot, ND – An anonymous tip helped North Dakota Highway Patrol investigators identify a vehicle sought for nearly two months in a hit and run injury crash in Minot, Ward County, authorities announced Tuesday.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the investigation began after a crash at approximately 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, at the intersection of the U.S. Highway 83 Bypass and 30th Avenue Northwest.
Investigators initially asked the public to help locate a white 1997 2003 Ford F 150 Crew Cab. Witness statements and vehicle debris recovered from the scene indicated the pickup could have damage to its front driver’s side, including a broken headlamp and possible blue paint transfer.
Authorities later obtained a screenshot of the suspected pickup from a nearby private camera and continued seeking information from the public.
On Tuesday, Highway Patrol officials said an anonymous tip ultimately helped investigators locate and identify the vehicle and those allegedly involved.
A 58 year old Minot man who authorities identified as the driver was charged with duty in an accident involving injury, a Class A misdemeanor. He was also cited for failure to give immediate notice of an accident, failure to yield the right of way and driving without liability insurance.
A 58 year old Minot woman who was a passenger in the vehicle was charged with hindering law enforcement/providing false information, also a Class A misdemeanor, according to the patrol.
The charges are allegations and remain subject to court proceedings.
