Grand Forks, ND – Residents across eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota can expect a changing weather pattern this week, with light rain and drizzle Tuesday, warmer temperatures Wednesday and a return to drier conditions Thursday and Friday as Halloween weekend approaches.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, a somewhat milder air mass will influence the region through the remainder of the week and into the weekend, although overnight temperatures could still fall below freezing in some communities.
Rain and Drizzle Tuesday Morning
Tuesday, Oct. 27, begins with cloudy skies and areas of light rain, fog and drizzle, particularly across northwestern Minnesota.
Afternoon temperatures are forecast to reach 41 to 50 degrees, with east southeast winds around 10 mph.
Mostly cloudy skies will continue Tuesday night, with temperatures falling between 30 and 40 degrees.
Wednesday Brings Warmer Temperatures and Showers
Wednesday, Oct. 28, could be the warmest day of the forecast period, with highs ranging from 54 to 60 degrees.
Rain showers are possible across eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota, especially in far southeastern North Dakota and west central Minnesota.
South winds around 10 mph are expected.
Residents traveling through the region should remain prepared for occasional wet roadways where showers develop.
Dry Weather Returns Before Halloween
Thursday, Oct. 29, will bring improving conditions, with partly cloudy skies and afternoon temperatures between 47 and 55 degrees.
Overnight lows could drop to 27 degrees in colder locations, potentially allowing frost or freezing conditions to develop.
Friday, Oct. 30, is also expected to remain dry, with partly cloudy skies and highs ranging from 45 to 58 degrees.
Light winds near 10 mph or less should continue through much of the period.
With Halloween falling Saturday, Oct. 31, families planning trick or treating and outdoor events should monitor updated forecasts.
Although the National Weather Service expects a generally milder weather pattern into the weekend, the supplied outlook does not provide specific Saturday temperatures or precipitation chances.
