WILMINGTON, N.C. — November is beginning unusually warm along the southeastern North Carolina coast, with Wilmington area temperatures expected to climb through the 70s before reaching around 80 degrees Wednesday and again Friday.
The National Weather Service forecast for the Wilmington area calls for a high near 73 Sunday, Nov. 1, followed by approximately 75 Monday. Temperatures rise to 78 Tuesday before reaching 80 Wednesday, Nov. 4 . Thursday remains warm near 79, followed by another high around 80 Friday.
80° Arrives Wednesday Sunday is expected to be partly sunny with northeast winds gusting as high as 18 mph. Monday remains mostly cloudy with another high in the mid 70s before skies clear Monday night.
Tuesday turns sunny with a high near 78. Overnight temperatures also trend milder, rising from around 55 Sunday night to 57 Monday night and approximately 61 Tuesday night.
Wednesday becomes one of the warmest days in the current forecast, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 80.
That gives the Wilmington area a notable early November run of 73 Sunday, 75 Monday, 78 Tuesday and 80 Wednesday .
Brief Rain Chance Nov. 4–5 The first meaningful rain chance arrives Wednesday night, when the Weather Service lists a 30% chance of rain after 1 a.m.
Thursday carries a 40% chance of rain with a high still near 79. The wet period appears relatively short lived, however, with partly cloudy conditions Thursday night followed by mostly sunny skies Friday and another high around 80.
Saturday remains mild and mostly sunny with a high near 78.
The first week of November therefore looks dominated by warmth rather than prolonged unsettled weather.
Extended Warm Signal Becomes Less Certain Near the Coast NOAA's November temperature outlook generally favors warmer conditions across the Southeast, but the Nov. 8–14 signal becomes weaker closer to the Atlantic coast.
That distinction matters for Wilmington.
The weather desk's Southeast guidance specifically notes that the warm second week signal weakens toward the Atlantic Coast, while precipitation is largely closer to normal outside Florida.
That means the strongest Wilmington story should remain the verified first week forecast rather than making an overly aggressive claim that 80 degree warmth will continue through mid November.
For now, the numbers are compelling enough: upper 70s to around 80 from Tuesday through Friday, Nov. 3–6 , followed by another mild day Saturday.
It remains too early for a specific Thanksgiving Day forecast on Nov. 26, but the warm opening to November is worth watching as North Carolina moves deeper into the month and toward Thanksgiving travel season.
