Wilmington, NC – Fall like temperatures will settle over the coastal Carolinas early this week before a gradual warmup pushes some inland communities into the lower 80s Thursday and Friday.
The National Weather Service in Wilmington said Sunday that temperatures will start below normal before gradually increasing later in the workweek. Highs will generally be in the mid 70s during the cooler portion of the week.
Monday, Oct. 5, brings highs around 75 degrees in Wilmington and Myrtle Beach, 76 in Florence and Lumberton, and 74 in Georgetown. The NWS outlook also indicates unsettled weather Monday before sunnier conditions develop.
Tuesday is forecast to be the coolest day across much of the area, with highs around 74 degrees in Wilmington, Myrtle Beach, Florence, Lumberton and Georgetown.
Temperatures begin climbing Wednesday. Wilmington is forecast to reach 76 degrees, while Myrtle Beach and Florence reach around 77.
The most noticeable warmup arrives Thursday. Wilmington could reach 80 degrees, while Florence and Lumberton climb to around 82. Myrtle Beach and Georgetown are forecast near 79.
Similar temperatures continue Friday, with Wilmington near 79 and Florence and Lumberton around 81 degrees.
The provided NWS outlook does not indicate a significant weather hazard during the workweek. For southeastern North Carolina and northeastern South Carolina, the main forecast story through Oct. 5 9 is the temperature swing from below normal, fall like conditions early in the week to warmer afternoons by Thursday and Friday.
