Rockingham County, NC – A 38 year old man is facing multiple felony charges in connection with Friday’s shooting involving a North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation agent assisting a Rockingham County Sheriff ’s Office tactical team.
According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, Marvin Dean White, 38, was charged and served in connection with the Friday, Oct. 3, shooting involving an SBI agent who was assisting the sheriff’s Special Response Team.
Sheriff’s detectives charged White with two counts of felony attempted first degree murder and two counts of felony assault on a law enforcement officer with a firearm. He also faces allegations including robbery with a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm to incite fear, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, larceny, assault by pointing a gun, going armed to the terror of the people and communicating threats.
The North Carolina SBI filed additional charges, including felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and felony attempted first degree murder, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities said Special Response Team members and tactical medical personnel provided immediate aid to the wounded SBI agent, working to stabilize the agent until additional medical resources arrived.
The sheriff’s office credited Rockingham County EMS and several law enforcement agencies, including Reidsville police, the SBI, North Carolina State Highway Patrol and Greensboro police, for their response.
White was being held pending a first court appearance scheduled for Monday, authorities said.
The sheriff’s office did not provide an updated condition for the SBI agent but expressed hope for a full recovery.
The charges are allegations. White is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
