Raleigh, NC – Central North Carolina faces another cloudy, cool and wet Sunday, with periods of drizzle or steady rain continuing through mid afternoon before rain chances diminish tonight.
According to the National Weather Service in Raleigh, rainfall amounts will vary across the region. The highest totals are expected south and east of the Triangle, where around one quarter inch of additional rain is forecast.
The wet weather will keep temperatures well below the warmer conditions typical of recent days. Afternoon highs will range from the middle 60s to middle 70s across central North Carolina.
Periods of drizzle or steady rain are expected through mid afternoon, making for damp conditions across Raleigh and surrounding communities. North winds of 5 to 10 mph will add to the cool feel.
Rainfall should be lighter in some areas, with the most persistent precipitation focused south and east of the Triangle. The NWS has not indicated a widespread flooding threat with this particular forecast.
Conditions begin improving Sunday night as rain chances diminish. Overnight temperatures will remain relatively mild despite the cool daytime conditions, with lows ranging from the upper 50s to lower 60s.
For Raleigh and central North Carolina, residents should plan for cloudy skies and periods of rain through much of Sunday afternoon. The best opportunity for drier conditions arrives tonight as precipitation gradually winds down.
