RALEIGH, N.C. — November is starting with a significant warmup across central North Carolina, with Raleigh temperatures expected to climb from the upper 60s Sunday into the upper 70s by Tuesday and approach 80 degrees Wednesday and Thursday.
The National Weather Service forecast for Raleigh calls for a high near 68 Sunday, Nov. 1, followed by 70 Monday. Temperatures then jump to around 77 Tuesday before reaching about 79 Wednesday and Thursday. Friday remains warm with a high near 78, followed by approximately 74 Saturday.
Near 80 Degrees by Midweek The warmup initially comes with mostly dry weather. Sunday is expected to be partly sunny, followed by another partly sunny day Monday. Tuesday turns sunny, with mostly sunny conditions continuing Wednesday.
Nighttime temperatures also climb sharply. Sunday and Monday nights are forecast to fall to around 48, but the low rises to approximately 55 Tuesday night and 61 Wednesday night.
That increasing nighttime warmth helps reinforce the broader November pattern rather than making the midweek warmth simply a one afternoon spike.
A wetter change arrives Thursday. The Weather Service lists a 50% chance of showers with a high near 79. Shower chances remain at 50% Thursday night before dropping to 40% Friday, when the high is expected near 78. Friday night currently trends dry, followed by partly sunny skies and a high near 74 Saturday.
November Warmth Extends Beyond Raleigh's 7 Day Forecast NOAA's newly released November temperature outlook favors above normal temperatures across much of North Carolina, while the separate Climate Prediction Center outlook for Nov. 8–14 continues to lean warmer than normal across much of the state.
The second week warm signal is weaker near parts of the Southeast Atlantic coast than across the nation's northern tier, but central North Carolina remains positioned on the warmer side of the outlook.
That supports a broader first half of November story: colder weather may make brief appearances, but the overall pattern is not currently favoring a sustained early season winter feel.
Precipitation provides less of a long range headline. NOAA's November precipitation outlook gives much of North Carolina no strong favored category, while the Nov. 8–14 outlook is generally near normal across the Carolinas.
Winter Still on Hold? For Raleigh, the more compelling story is therefore temperature: upper 70s arrive Nov. 3, highs approach 79 Nov. 4–5, and unusually mild conditions remain favored into the second week of November.
That does not mean every day through Nov. 14 will be warm or that Raleigh cannot see a cold front. CPC outlooks describe average conditions across an entire period rather than specific daily temperatures.
It is also too early to forecast Thanksgiving Day on Nov. 26, but the persistent warmth is worth watching as North Carolina moves deeper into November and toward the Thanksgiving travel season.
When do you expect Raleigh to get its first real taste of winter?
