Newport, NC – Eastern North Carolina residents can expect a warming trend through Friday, Oct. 30, with afternoon temperatures approaching 80 degrees before another change in weather brings rain chances back to the region Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City, Wednesday, Oct. 28, will begin with considerable cloud cover before increasing breaks in the clouds allow more sunshine throughout the afternoon.
The forecast calls for generally dry conditions across much of eastern North Carolina through Saturday, offering several opportunities for outdoor activities before showers become possible late in the weekend.
Temperatures Climb Toward 80 Degrees Wednesday's forecast high is approximately 74 degrees, with overnight temperatures falling to around 58 degrees.
Thursday brings additional sunshine and warmer conditions, with highs reaching 78 degrees and overnight lows near 54 degrees.
By Friday, temperatures are expected to peak around 79 degrees, making it the warmest day in the five day forecast.
Saturday will bring a slight cooldown, with partly cloudy skies and afternoon highs near 73 degrees.
Outer Banks Could See Isolated Showers Although most communities should remain dry Wednesday, the NWS notes that isolated light showers could move onshore across portions of the Outer Banks.
These showers are expected to be limited in coverage rather than representing widespread rainfall across the region.
Communities around New Bern, Morehead City, Jacksonville and surrounding coastal areas can otherwise expect improving sky conditions as the week progresses.
Rain Chances Return Sunday Afternoon The next notable weather change arrives Sunday, Nov. 1, when rain chances return during the afternoon.
Sunday's forecast calls for highs near 75 degrees and overnight lows around 59 degrees.
Residents planning outdoor events, coastal trips or weekend travel should take advantage of the generally dry conditions through Saturday while monitoring Sunday's developing forecast.
