Lexington, NC – A copper theft investigation at a Davidson County church has resulted in the arrest of a man facing felony charges after deputies investigated reported property damage and missing materials earlier this month.
According to the Davidson County Sheriff 's Office, deputies received a report Oct. 5 involving property damage and the alleged theft of copper from Center Hill Church, located at 3759 N.C. Highway 8 in Lexington, North Carolina.
The incident prompted an investigation by the sheriff's office, which ultimately led detectives to identify and interview a suspect.
On Wednesday, Oct. 14, detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff's Office T.R.A.C.E. Team arrested Jordan Blair in connection with the reported theft.
Authorities said Blair was charged with felony larceny and property damage following the investigation.
Investigators have not publicly detailed the amount of copper allegedly stolen, the estimated value of the missing materials or the extent of the damage reported at the church.
The sheriff's office also did not specify whether the stolen copper had been recovered.
Blair was held without bond at the time of his arrest because he was on pretrial release in another matter, according to authorities.
The sheriff's office emphasized that release conditions in criminal proceedings are determined by judicial officials under North Carolina General Statute 15A 532, rather than by law enforcement officers.
Blair is scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court in October 2026. An exact hearing date was not provided in the sheriff's office announcement.
The case highlights an ongoing concern surrounding copper theft, which can leave property owners facing replacement costs and repairs to damaged infrastructure.
The charges remain allegations, and Blair is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
