Eden, NC – Law enforcement officials in Rockingham County are requesting the public's assistance in locating an Eden resident involved in a high speed vehicle pursuit that took place on Sunday, September 20, 2026. The incident, which involved both the Rockingham County Sheriff 's Office and the Eden Police Department , remains under investigation as authorities work to apprehend the suspect.
According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit began when a vehicle failed to stop for patrol deputies. During the chase, the vehicle allegedly reached speeds in excess of 90 mph in designated 45 mph zones, creating what officials described as a dangerous environment for the public, the officers, and the occupants of the vehicle itself. The vehicle eventually lost control, at which point both the driver and a passenger fled the scene on foot.
While law enforcement was unable to apprehend the individuals immediately, investigators have identified the driver as 36 year old Christopher Thomas Odell of Taylor Street in Eden. A mugshot has been released to the public as the search for Mr. Odell continues. At this time, he is sought in connection with the events surrounding the Sunday afternoon pursuit.
