Winnipeg, MB – A Winnipeg Transit operator was hospitalized after being shot with a pellet gun Monday afternoon, and police are now searching for the youth believed responsible.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, officers responded around 2:11 p.m. on October 27 to reports of a disturbance at the intersection of Gateway Road and Springfield Road. A youth allegedly produced what appeared to be a pellet gun and shot a transit operator in the hand following an argument.

The operator suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital, where they remain in stable condition.

Police say the youth fled before officers arrived. Members of the Tactical Support Team and K9 Unit searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
