Frankfort, IL – A reported armed robbery at a Frankfort gas station ended with a swift arrest Saturday night after deputies launched an active search and alerted nearby residents to shelter in place.

According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 7:48 p.m. on December 21, 2025, to a reported armed robbery at the Circle K gas station located at 7654 West Lincoln Highway. Investigators say a masked male allegedly entered the business, approached the counter while brandishing a knife, claimed he had a gun, and demanded money from the register.

Authorities said the employee complied, and the suspect fled the store on foot, running eastbound from the location.

Shortly after deputies arrived, an individual reportedly informed officers that the suspect may have been a relative who had recently left their residence wearing a ski mask. A reverse-911 alert was then issued to nearby residents, advising them to shelter in place as deputies conducted an active search.

Deputies later located the suspect, identified as Sufyan Farhan, 27, hiding inside the women’s restroom at a nearby McDonald’s at 7215 West Lincoln Highway, according to the sheriff’s office. He was taken into custody without incident.

Authorities reported recovering a large amount of U.S. currency from the suspect. The gas station employee allegedly positively identified him as the individual responsible for the robbery. A subsequent K-9 search of the area led to the recovery of a jacket and knife in a field west of the McDonald’s.

Officials praised deputies and the K-9 unit for their coordinated response, noting the situation was resolved quickly and safely.

As stated by authorities, all charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
