Wilmington, IL – The Forest Preserve District of Will County will host the Mutts and Mugs event on Feb. 2 from 1-3 p.m. at Forked Creek Preserve’s Ballou Road Access.
The event invites dog owners to socialize while enjoying coffee or cocoa provided by staff. Guests are encouraged to bring their own mugs and their dogs.
“It’s great to get out and socialize during the gray-skied winter,” said Em Wilcher, recreation coordinator. “We’re excited to welcome new visitors and regulars.”
The Will County Emergency Management Agency will share tips on emergency preparedness for pets. Staff will provide educational materials, answer questions, and offer free emergency kits.
The event includes giveaways such as canine goodie bags from Pets Etc. of Plainfield. A 2025 dog park permit, available on-site for $5, is required to attend. Permits can also be purchased online or at visitor centers.
“This event gives residents a chance to explore the dog park while connecting with others,” Wilcher added.
No registration is required for the program, which is open to attendees aged 13 or older.
